藤編技藝與苧麻編織是泰雅族重要的傳統技藝,大同泰雅生活館與南澳泰雅文化館,典藏了珍貴的藤編及苧麻編織文物。
傳統泰雅族社會,男女分工有別,藤編技藝,因物料的取得「採藤、粗剖、定寬、整厚」較為繁重,多以男性為主;苧麻編織工藝的需巧手與梭路交織,則以女性為主。

Rattan and ramie weaving are important traditional crafts of the Atayal people. Datong Township Atayal Aborigine Museum and Nan’ao Atayal Culture Museum both collect precious relics of rattan and ramie weaving.
In traditional Atayal society, men and women had clear division of work. Rattan weaving was quite heavy-duty, and was carried out by men; the craft of ramie weaving required skillful hands and delicate weaving technique, and was mainly the job of women.
Datong Atayal Aborigine Museum and Nan’ao Atayal Culture Museum exhibit the indigenous people’s dedication to daily crafts, inheriting the value and spirit of indigenous culture.
